Review on: MAC - mineralize skin finish in deep dark

I use MAC's Deep Dark Mineralize Skinfinish powder. I use it with Studio Tech NC50 as my everyday powder.  The combination of the two give just that amount of coverage I'm looking for without that pasty look.

Pros: Great coverage, last all day
Cons: Price
Review on: MAC - Blot Powder
Love this powder. sets foundation. does the job without looking heavy

Pros: very sheer but still gives the matte look
Cons: n/a
Review on: NYX - Luxurious Black Label Compact Powder
This is a review for the powder compact with the swiveling mirror. I got this for free from a friend brand new and I really loved it. When you take it out of the box, it comes inside a blace lace pouch which is really cute. I don't necessarily use it but I did store it for later.  When you first open it, you'll notice that the mirror swivels at a 360 degree circle.  I've read that some people hate it and find it useless but I've found to love it. Many times when I do my makeup and only have the mirror, the applicator (which ,btw, is a square sponge) that comes in the compact will fall out. This way, I can swivel the mirror and close it so that the mirror is on the outside with no worries.  The compact is closed by a magnet so that's a plus. I don't like having to deal with compacts that you have to pop open as when carry those in your purse they sometimes break and then you can't carry them anymore.

NYX Cosmetics online says it's suppose to provide coverage but the only coverage I've obtained from this is a matte even toned skin. It does not conceal as the box states but who would expect that from a powder compact. It's like they had two different groups trying to decide how to sell this product and they just put anything on the label.

The actual powder has a scent to it. It's not unpleasant but different so those who don't like scented makeup will hate it. It reminds me of the smell some lipsticks have.  The powder is very light to medium coverage in terms of evening you skintone. It's not heavy and very easily blendable so you can use it lightly or heavily, whichever you prefer and it can look quite natural as well imo.  It doesn't sit on your face like a thick powder does or get cakey as long as you blend it well. With this powder you don't need much and that's always a plus.

I think the only bad thing about this is the price which retails for $25.00 dollars. And about the only way to get is is by purchasing it through NYX online.  Many places like cherry culture still don't sell the powders and NYX is not always easily found at most drugstores.

Ingredients:Talc, Mica, Silica, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Squalane, Zinc Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Lauroyl Lysine, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Aluminum Dimyristate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Aluminum Hydroxide, methicone, Iron Oxides, Methylparaben, Fragrance, Zirconium Dioxide, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylparaben, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Pearl Powder.

NYX is cruelty free ;)

Pros: Very light, even's skintone, not cakey
Cons: Price, unless you really love, it's not worth it.
Review on: Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder

I bought and used this for setting my liquid foundation, and for oil control. The color I chose was Sandstorm. My EDM Finishing Dust is almost gone, and it does zilch for oil control. The pan for this is huge! It does not come with an applicator. I used a big, fluffy powder brush to apply it. It added a bit of coverage(I would say it's quite light though), and did not go on powdery or heavy at all. It was very light, and I didn't feel it while it was on my skin. I think this did a good job of controlling oil. I was quite impressed. It didn't look cakey after while, even after one touch up late in the day(this stuff claims to keep you matte for up to 5 hours, and for me it lasted about 4 and after that I had some shine but still better than my EDM Finishing Dust). However, this stuff unfortunately broke me out. It's too bad, because I really like this product. I am recommending it to anyone who doesn't have acne prone skin like me, or anyone who is willing to see if it will break them out. Sometimes you just never know what will.

Pros: Does a really good job of keeping you matte, widely available, cheap, not cakey
Cons: No applicator, broke me out
Review on: MAC - Beauty Powder Smooth Harmony
OMG What's not to love about this?  It comes in the super cute hot pink Heatherette hollogram compact.  The color is perfect for a subtle sweet contour for everyday!

Pros: Great Packaging awesome color
Cons: might not show up on darker skin tones.
Review on: L'Oreal - True Match
I didn't like this pressed powder. I thought it was very chalky and it didn't feel comfortable to wear at all.
I felt like I was wearing a mask and it felt sooo unnatural.
I tried two different shades and both ended up making me look chalky and even paler than usual even though they weren't pale shades.
Gave coverage but not in a good way.

Pros: Thick coverage for those wanting to hide blemishes and so on.
Cons: Felt like my skin couldn't breath, chalky, not a good variety of shades, too thick.
Review on: Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Lovely product. Gets rid of shine and evens out any patchiness or streaks in your foundation. Provides an even colour and I apply it with a fluffy brush all over my face. Stays put all day and goes on really nice. I got mine in Pink Blossom although you can get a translucent one if you don't want any colour from it and just want to prevent shine. There is a good selection of other shades too. Cheap too! Really pleased with this product and I'm planning on buying it again this weekend!

Pros: Anti-shine, evens out foundations, good shades, staying power, ease of application, not cakey, price.
Cons: None that I know of!
Review on: E.L.F. - Clarifying Pressed Powder
Used with ELF's Tone corrector concealer, and Sheilding Hyrdo-Tint SPF 15, you may notice that areas where you applied the liquid foundation will appear to be quite darker when you apply the pressed powder. I was not that quite happy about the outcome of this product. It only gives you basic light coverage, but not enough to blend in, and tone your skin. My face also looked orange compared to the other areas of my skn that did not have the powder on it. Also, I noticed that in the formula, there are small little white specks of powder. I didnt like this powder at all, and it clearly did nothing for me.

Pros: Nice Matte Finish.
Cons: Not enough skin color choices, and cheap powder formula.
Review on: tarte - Provocateur Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 8
This is a super-light pressed powder.  I use it when I need a touch up during the day to take away shine.  Only downside is that I find the that the difference between the light and medium shades is very drastic.  I would appreciate a shade in-between.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: MAC - Beauty powder in alpha girl
This is from the Heatherette 2008 collection. I think the only use for this beauty powder is as a blush at least on me (NC15). It could be used as a highlighter on darker skin tones though. This wasn't as pigmented as I thought it would be. It's definitely not as pigmented as any of MAC's powder blushes. The good thing is it's pretty hard to overdo and very easy to blend. It's not matte but it has very tiny gold shimmers that aren't that noticable once it's applied. The colour is like a muted pink and almost reminds me of cheek blush but pinker.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: MAC - Studio Fix
This powder gives a lot of coverage.  It's a matte powder that's good for touching up a bit, but I don't really like to wear this because the finish doesn't look natural and can be powdery looking.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: MAC -
One of my favorite powders to use is M.A.C.'s Irridescent Pressed Powder in "Belightful".
This "luminous" pressed-powder highlights your skin with subtle bit of colour. It is jet-milled with Mica and pigments that gives anyon's skin a beautiful dewey glow.

I use is alone and with foundation but NOT Hyperreal unless you appreciate the SUPER irridescent look.   It is very long-lasting and applies easy with any brush from a loose powder to a "Kabuki" style brush depending on how much color you need or desire.  It is VERY concentrated ...so use it spearingly at first!

I love it all over the decollte as well...perfect for brides!!  Although older women do not like "sparkly" or metallic look, if used sparingly, this is a great product!

Pros: Non caking, Non streaking, easy to use beautiful color for all
Cons: Have to take time to learn to use it.. is that a CON?
Review on: CoverFX - Matte FX
Matte FX is great is you want a powder that controls oil really well. It only comes in 3 colours but light is a perfect match for me. It can look cakey if you use anything but a powder brush but it keeps the oil away for most of the day. The packaging could be better because if it's dropped once, the opening breaks.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: E.L.F. - Clarifying Pressed Powder in Tone 2
Tone 2 isn't quite right for my skin... perhaps i was a little mislead-- because tone 2 worked for me in the Shielding Hydro Tint. The color seems darker that it did on the webiste (more orangey)-- maybe I'd like it better if I got a lighter shade but who knows. It's really light coverage and oil absorbing so I enjoy that. For me this applies better and more sheer with a powder brush, making the color still somewhat workable.

I rated the packaging kind of low because there's no mirror in the compact. I usually rely on whatever powder i take in my purse to have a mirror so I can apply other things. Now you're probably saying, but it was only a buck what do you expect?! Well...ELF also sells a compact that holds four shadows, glosses or whatever you want-- and that happens to be very high quality AND has a mirror. Why couldn't they put a mirror in the compact? It also can barely close with the puff inside the compact. I mean it closes, but seems like the hinge might snap after awhile. Oh well! no major loss here, just a dollar! Like i said, I'll probably continue to use it with a fluffy brush to diffuse the product.

Pros: oil absorbing, lightweight, not cakey
Cons: tone 2 is too orange, no mirror, compact barely fits the puff
Review on: Neutrogena - Skinclearing Oil-free Pressed Powder
This powder is great for sensitive skin like mine. It lasts all day and the mirror is big enough to be  used for touching anything up. It will stand up onn it's own to, great if you want to set it down and apply some gloss or lipstick.

Pros: Hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic, great for sensitive skin, long lasting, big mirror
Cons: A bit pricey, if you don't have much of a budget to begin with.
Review on: Maybelline - Pure Powder in Medium
This powder is great. It is long lasting, very blendable, healthy for sensitive skin since it's hypoallergenic, and it last all day. It doesn't fade as the day goes. The only bad thing is the bad Maybelline packaging. My lids are constantly breaking off.

Pros: Stays on all day, great for sensitive skin
Cons: Bad packaging.
Review on: Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Blends Translucent Oil-Control Presse
An awesome powder; I've used it exclusively for almost nine years. It reduces oil and shine and leaves my skin healthy and fresh looking.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: L'Oreal - True Match
powder very fine. does not cake up... i love it a lot. however, the packaging drives me crazy.

Pros: fine powder
Cons: packing makes it hard to touch up without a mirror
Review on: Physician's Formula - MineralWear in Sand Beige
The first time using minerals and it's fine, just alright. I mainly use it to powder my nose. I dont use it for all over my face.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: N.Y.C - Translucent pressed powder
I have the NYC translucent loose powder which i LOVE.  So when i needed a compact for my purse i decided to get the pressed powder by NYC.  The compact really sucks so i popped it out and put it in the covergirl compact i had.  The powder is way too white for my skintone but it does keep me oil free. I dont want to throw it out so ill probably keep it and use it lightly with a powder brush.

Pros: dirt cheap and it does keep me oil free.
Cons: too white
